A curfew imposed in this Madhya Pradesh city after increasing incidences of violence and arson in the wake of a Bajrang Dal leader’s murder, was relaxed on Wednesday between 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Saturday afternoon, Bajrang Dal leader Deepak Khushwaha was allegedly stabbed to death in Baksaria by a group of men. Violence erupted in the form of arson and stone pelting and authorities imposed curfew in the Kotwali police station area.

Additional Police Superintendent Sanjeev Singh told IANS, “Besides the 10 and a half hours’ relaxation in curfew, a peace march was also conducted, in which people participated in large numbers. The situation is slowly becoming normal here.”
On Tuesday, the authorities relaxed the curfew for a total of five hours during the day but clamped it back again at night.
Security forces are still posted and are monitoring the situation.
