Description

Washington, D.C. – The Executive Committee of American Friends of Balochistan is pleased to invite you to a presentation “Untold Story: What’s Happening in Balochistan” on August 11 at 3 pm at Marvin Center, George Washington University. The talk will be followed by a reception to celebrate the AFB registration as a non-profit.

Confirmed speakers are C. Christine Fair, Associate Professor in the Security Studies Program within Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service; T. Kumar, Advocacy Director for Asia and Europe; Amnesty International USA; Ambassador Dr Har Swarup Singh, veteran American Indian diplomat and scholar; and Robert Daruis, PhD, Former Command Historian, HQ, AMC at U.S. Army and Research and Teaching Professor at U.S.Army War College.

The event has been sponsored by the Afghan Students Association, George Washington University.

France-sized Balochistan in Pakistan is facing a genocidal situation where Pakistan security forces are committing gross violations of human rights, by throwing two dozen out of 30 items of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to the winds. Balochistan is also the world capital of enforced disappearances where Pakistan security forces and intelligence services continue to carry out a ruthless kill and dump policy. All these crimes against Baloch people are happening in the backdrop of the building of the so-called China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

This date of August 11th is also the date when Pakistan signed the Standstill Agreement with Balochistan, recognizing its independent status. On this anniversary date, the team would be very happy if you join us to celebrate our non-profit status as an organization aimed to defend Baloch human rights. Henceforth, the AFB will be positioning itself as a resource for getting ground level research and analysis of the Balochistan landscape.
