BAREILLY: Days after controversial BJP MP Yogi Adityanath threatened to “hang eve teasers in public” at a meeting in Hathras, the Gorakhpur strongman said a “Lakshman Rekha” will be drawn to protect girls and save Hindutva on the last day of campaigning here in Bareilly on Monday. The district goes to polls for the second phase on February 15.
“There have been many reported cases of eve teasing and girls being abducted, especially in western Uttar Pradesh. Like eastern UP, we will draw a Lakshman Rekha to protect our girls and women and save the Hindutva fabric of our society,” said the firebrand leader at MV Inter College grounds in the city. He was here to campaign in favour of BJP candidate and sitting MLA from the Bareilly City seat Arun Kumar Saxena.
Adityanath, one of BJP’s star campaigners, was welcomed amid heavy sloganeering by supporters. Delivering a scathing attack on the SP government, he said, “The SP gave patronage to terrorists, criminals and anti-social elements. Once elected to power, we will ensure that these elements are behind the bars.”
He went on to blame both SP and the BSP of exploiting minority vote banks in the state. “Both the parties claimed to have given maximum number of seats to Muslims. SP even went on to chest thump on how their government opened fire on Ram Bhakts during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement,” said the MP.
