On Tuesday Supreme Court asked Rahul Gandhi (Vice-President of Congress) to apologize for his comments holding RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) responsible for Gandhi’s assassination after saying “RSS killed Gandhi”.
Supreme Court asked Rahul Gandhi that “Why did you make a sweeping statement against the RSS branding everyone associated with the organization in the same brush”.
The court clearly aksed Rahul Gandhi’s lawyer that Rahul Gandhi has to apologize for his comments or to face trial, and also announced a hearing on 27th July. At that time Supreme Court said that “Freedom is not crippled or cut. Everyday a writer, politician will speak something. The purpose of the law is not to turn people into litigants”
Harin Raval (Senior Advocate) said that whatever Rahul Gandhi said in his speech was on the basis of Government records also on the basis of decision of Punjab and Haryana High Court and Rahul Gandhi was not directly remarking Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Judgement of Punjab and Haryana high court only says that Nathuram Godse was an Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) worker and Nathuram Godse killed Gandhi. But Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh killed Gandhi and Godse killed Gandhi both are two different things.
During election rally in March 2014, Rahul Gandhi had said that “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) killed Gandhiji and today their people talk of Gandhiji and also they opposed Sardar Patel and Gandhiji.”
Rahul Gandhi (Vice-Presedent of Congress) had moved to Supreme Court in May 2015 for his comments against Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during election rally.
