Declare India a ‘Hindu Rashtra’, it is Hindu’s birth right. Stop torture on Hindus in their own country, Says Uddhav Thackeray.
Upananda Brahmachari | HENB | Mumbai | July 25, 2016:: “The generation of Shiv Sena has changed but not the ideology. The founder of Shiv Sena eschewed the way of secularism and opted the Hindu Rashtra in India. We still adhere that way to proclaim a Hindu Rashtra in Bharat. This is the only way to stop all torture and injustice made to the Hindus here”, said the Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, in an exclusive interview published in first two parts in daily noon Saamana on 24-25 July. The interview was taken by Saamana Editor, Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena MP in the upper house of Indian parliament.
Amidst the ongoing tensions in Kashmir, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday demanded that India should be proclaimed as a ‘Hindu state’.
“We have no other alternative but to declare India a Hindu Rashtra. Indians have been beating the drum of secularism loudly for long and Hindus have suffered enough in the (secularism) fold,” he said.
He also questioned the Centre’s handling of the Kashmir situation and accused BJP of “failing” Hindus, while noting that a “hazy situation” was prevalent in the country.
“Who is accountable for this (Kashmir situation)? Amaranth Yatra has been suspended, Hindus are being beaten, jawans attacked. Everyone had hoped that after a change in government, the scenario would change,” Thackeray said.
“‘Now onwards, Hindus will not be targeted’, this is what BJP, which is in power at the Centre as well as in the state (Kashmir), had asserted. But, Hindus are in trouble in the Valley,” claimed Uddhav.
Shiv Sena, the oldest political ally of the BJP, shares power with it at the Centre as well as in Maharashtra.
Drawing parallels with the tagline of a popular TV advertisement of a deodorant, he said, “Kya Chal Raha Hai? Fog Chal Raha hai” as he hit out at the central government. He added that a “hazy situation” is prevalent in the country.
“No one can understand what is happening and who is doing what. The dispensation has changed, but has the life of commoner got changed?” he asked.
Thackeray also said his party upheld the cause of Hindutva the best but its benefits were reaped by others also. “We took the brickbats and faced all the troubles (for Hindus)… but now others are enjoying (the benefits). For how long will this continue?” he asked.
Replying to a question, if he was hinting at Modi, the 55-year-old leader said, “I am talking about the political leadership of the country in total. Our Prime Minister visits all the states of the country, including Kashmir. But why he doesn’t stand behind the Kashmiri Hindus at this time (of crisis).”
The part -1 and part-2 of the three-part interview was published on Sunday and Monday consecutively in the party mouthpiece Saamana (Marathi) and Dopaharka Saamana (Hindi) ahead of the present SS Chief’s 56th birthday on July 27.
Giving a high alert to the central Govt, the SS chief said, “Don’t disgrace the fighting Army in Kashmir anyway for the anti-Indian people come to the roads there”.
Aspiring a ‘Congress Free India’ in near future, Uddhahv gave a message that India would adopt the thoughts of Hindu Rashtra in the line of Sena very quickly.
The Sena chief said: “If speaking about Hindutva is a crime, at least shed the false pretensions of secularism — as the country is now stuck between these two (Hindutva and secularism).
“When Hindus are being targeted and attacked, where are these secularists? What about the Sanatan Sanstha, which is being crushed like a snake? We don’t support them, but let the truth about the Sanatan Sanstha come out once and for all. Merely talking and labelling them will not serve the cause of justice,” Thackeray said.
Persons linked to the Sanatan Sanstha have been accused of involvement in the murder of rationalist and author Narendra Achyut Dabholkar in 2013 and left-wing author and activist Govind Pansare in 2015.
He agreed with Raut that attempts are being to decimate Hindutva groups in the country, which he termed “strange”.
“The Hindus are in a majority, yet they are subjected to atrocities. They elected this government with the hope and confidence of improving their lot, but the same old story as before (Congress rule) continues,” Thackeray exclaimed.
