Right-wing militant Hindu group Bajrang Dal has launched arms training for its cadre in Uttar Pradesh in using rifles, swords and laathis.
This, according to Times of India, is to ensure that they can ‘protect Hindus from non-brothers’.
A camp was recently organised in Ayodhya.
The outfit is reportedly planning to organise similar camps in other parts of Uttar Pradesh namely Sultanpur, Gorakhpur, Pilibhit, Noida and Fatehpur till 5 June.
Bajrang Dal is the youth wing of Vishva Hindu Parishad, and its members have in the past been involved in violence against people belonging to minority community across India.
The militant organisation has also faced allegations of rioting and violence against religious minorities.
The outfit has also been running vigilante cow-protection programmes.
One of the most notable gruesome crimes committed by Bajrang Dal goons was last year’so brutal thrashing of a Muslim man in Muzaffarnagar.
The video of a Muslim man being publicly thrashed was reported by jantakareporter.com. Once published, the video had gone viral causing international outrage.
Uttar Pradesh, which has been notorious for communal violence, goes to polls next year and stakes have become high for political parties, particularly those seeking votes along the communal lines.
