Hindu Munnani submits petition to RDO

hindu_munnaniHindu Munnani on Tuesday sought the intervention of the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), Vellore to stop the construction of a Muslim “religious structure” at Sathuvachari.

In a petition to the RDO, the organisation said the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Mannithaneya Makkal Katchi had their office on a plot at Sathuvachari phase-2 but they were converting it into a place of worship by installing a loud speaker and offering prayers, K. Magesh, zonal president, Hindu Munnani, Vellore said.

“This land was purchased from Tamil Nadu Housing Board nearly eight years ago. It was meant for residential purposes but there were attempts to construct a mosque,” he said.

Pending case

He said the residents’ welfare association had also protested against use of the plot as a place of worship. “They have also filed a case in the court. This is pending. Similarly, an inquiry by the RDO into this issue is also pending. Now, they have started to construct a structure and we have asked the officials to stop it,” he added.

Officials said that a “religious structure” was being constructed, and the RDO had directed the tahsildar to stop the construction as an inquiry and a court case was pending.

The organisation also submitted a petition to the Collector seeking exemption from removing their boards and flags in view of the model code of conduct. They said Hindu Munnani was not a political party.
