A corner shop in the St Matthews area of the city could become home to a new Hindu education centre.
Best Buy in Fletcher Road has been bought by Mandhata Samaj & Mr Thakor Patel.
Plans tabled to Preston City Council by planning agent Kiran Patel outline how the building would be put to a new use.
A planning application states the building, on the corner with Chester Road, would be used as a luncheon club, festive function hall and for cultural and religious educational activities.
Plans for the building also state the community centre would be used by the existing Hindu community in the St Matthews and Deepdale area so would not impact on parking in Fletcher Road.
Mr Patel said Best Buy would be continuing to trade until the outcome of the application was known.
