Kanaka Durga Temple at Vijayawada Gears Up for Deeksha Viramana.

ENS | Vijayawada | Dec 22, 2015:: The Kanaka Durga Temple authorities are making elaborate arrangements for the five-day ‘Bhavani Deeksha Viramana Utsavam’ (relinquishment of deeksha), commencing on December 31, as several lakhs of devotees are expected to have darshan of the Goddess on the occasion.

Temple executive officer Ch Narasinga Rao told reporters here Monday that they are making every effort to ensure comfortable darshan for the visiting Bhavanis and facilitate them to end their deeksha in customary fashion like before. “The only difference this year will be that instead of the temple head priest and other priests, the Guru Bhavanis i.e., those who had conferred ‘Bhavani Deeksha’ in the first place will remove the ‘Irumudi’. We have made all arrangements for the ritual at Mallikarjuna Maha Mandapam where several homagundams are being constructed for the purpose,” he explained. He assured that all the arrangements including queue lines will be in place well before the event commences. “The ‘Deeksha Viramana Utsavam’ will commence on December 31 and conclude on January 4. Before that, ‘Kalasa Jyothi’ ritual will be held on December 24 at the temple.”
