A five-day mega Hindu Spiritual and Service Fair-2015 held in Bangalore concluded on 13th December Sunday. The fair encouraged people to offer selfless service to the society, inspired patriotism and promoted awareness to preserve the environment.

The fair, first of its kind in Karnataka, was organised to represent the service activities of Hindu religious organisations of the state. Fair had representatives from nearly 200 major socio-religious service organisations who had set up their stalls to display the various activities undertaken by them and to involve the public to be part of the process of social transformation.

In a special programme ‘Param Veer Vandana’ held on Sunday, spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar addressed the gathering.

The spiritual guru reflected that there are numerous ‘mutts’ and other Hindu organisations which work day and night for the enhancement of society without any publicity.

“Service is main goal of Hinduism,” he said.

“Our temples are not just centers of worships. But are the centres of social transformation,” said Dinesh Kamat, National organising secretary of Samskrit Bharati , quoting the example of Siddaganga Math in Karnataka for its great service for  education.

Several such organisations are involved in silent social transformations, he said.

Head of Mangalayan Project and noted Scientist Dr Mailaswamy Annadorai mentioned that Science and Spiritualism will always work together in service of humanity.

A special dance show featuring various Yoga postures was also performed in the afternoon by ‘Yogashree’ group, a forum for Yoga in Bengaluru.

5 former soldiers were also felicitated during the occasion and prizes were distributed to students who had won in various competitions.

Thousands of students from different colleges had pledged to conserve the environment and also performed Prakruti Vandana a day earlier, offering religious tributes to Tulasi Plant.

The fair also witnessed over 2000 women from Bengaluru participate in a unique event named Gou-Ganga Vandana in which a special worship on Gou (Indian breed of Cow) and Ganga (Water) water was held, where film director noted and screen writer Roopa Iyer performed Gou-Pooja.
