DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TEXAS, October 30, 2015 (DFW Diwali Mela): On October 31, 2015, the DFW Indian Cultural Society is hosting their annual DFW Diwali Mela at the Cotton Bowl Stadium, Dallas, TX. This is the 10th anniversary of this event and it has gained significant popularity among the South Asian communities in North Texas over these last 10 years, with crowds of over 30,000 attending. The DFW ICS is growing strong every year and, through the DFW Diwali Mela, aims to uphold our traditions and bring the community together on this auspicious occasion.

The main highlight of the event has always been its live Bollywood performance by popular Bollywood musicians; this year, Alka Yagnik will be performing. The classically trained recording artist has sung 2,482 Hindi songs in 1,114 films. However, the Mela is not just about this performance; the Mela strives to bring a holistic sense of the festival with many cultural performances by the people of the community, such as Ram Leela, an amazing fireworks display and Raavan Dahan, thereby passing on our traditions to the next generation.
