OFBJP Houston was very pleased and proud to be a part of the Independence Day celebration last Sunday, Aug 16 at the new Stafford Civic center. Honorable Consul General of India was the chief guest and many local distinguished people like Mayors, County Judges, City council members etc. were the honored invitees.
It was a day long program with very festive atmosphere and thousands of people attending the event. There was a very entertaining cultural program with many inspirational themes and speeches suitable for the occasion. There were India’s traditional and modern dances, music and a variety of talents presented by the Children, Youth and Seniors.
There were many booths representing distinguished organizations as well as selling Indian Handicrafts, Garments and other products and services.
We set up a booth for the Overseas Friends of India which was very popular. Many people stopped at the booth, men and women alike, often engaging in friendly, heated discussions that showed their level of interest and a large number of people picked up the OFBJP membership forms.
We thank the members of ICC as well as its president, Charlie Patel Ji for their invitation to us to join the event.
