COLONISED HINDU MIND.
BY DILIP MEHTA

English men left about 70 years ago, yet the Hindu mind is as much or even more colonized than before. At least, before independence we had not surrendered culturally to a brutal colonization. But now the colonization process is complete, both mentally and culturally.
We can see the effects of this colonized Hindu mind in our daily life. We celebrate Christmas and the Christian New Year much more vigorously than even Christians. On the first of January, we see pictures of Hindu kids in India greeting the New Year. So many Hindu temples in America have special so called “New Year” pooja.
No Christian ever celebrates any Hindu festivals. They never wish Happy Diwali to each other. They never greet fellow Christians on Hindu New Year. Now speaking of another pointless celebration. We celebrate Mother’s day. We forget that according to the immortal teaching from our shastras “Matru Devo Bhavah”, we intrinsically worship our mother every day of our lives. If the Western society was celebrating Sister in Law day we would be celebrating the same. We imitate blindly and choose to call it progress.
Similarly, we celebrate Birth days. If the West was celebrating birthday by cutting watermelons, we would be cutting watermelons. Instead of extinguishing candles if they were squeezing lemons we would be doing the same. For example, on the tenth birthday, we would be squeezing ten lemons. Again, it is nothing but blind imitation.
Hindu mind is colonized due to an inferiority complex that stalks its whole mental space. When we ask Hindus how they are, they reply rhetorically ‘Upervalaki mehrbani hai’. Uperwala is not a part of our concept. Bhagvan Krishna expounds clearly in the Geeta that he is in the heart of his devotees.
According to the Quran we are Kafirs and according to the Bible we are heathen, yet our Sadhus praise them and equate them with the holy and immortal Geeta. They introduce Geeta as Bible of Hindus. In the name of tolerance and the spirit of “sarva dharma sama bhava”, we praise and accept the Bible and the Quran and consider them as another Geeta. No civilization can be so effusive to accept and heap praises on the philosophy of their tormentors – except the sick and the retarded.
