In a rare gesture, Hindu Munnani, a Sangh Parivar outfit, today wished rationalist organisation Dravidar Kazhagam’s chief K Veeramani a speedy recovery.

Ideologically poles apart, Hindu Munnani and Dravidar Kazhagam are at daggers drawn on almost all issues, including the recent Mangalsutra removal row.

“We understand that Veeramani has been admitted to a private hospital due to some illness. I pray to the Almighty for his speedy recovery,” founder organiser of Munnani, Ramagopalan said in his wishes.

Hindu Munnani was at the forefront of opposition to Mangalsutra removal and beef banquet programme of DK held recently.

The controversial event was held after a single judge of the Madras High Court gave the nod for it.

Though it was subsequently stayed by the court, the event was held before orders were pronounced.

DK functionaries said 82-year-old Veeramani was in the hospital for some medical evaluations.
