Mangaluru: BJP, VHP raise funds for quake victims in Nepal

Mangaluru, Apr 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and VHP organized street fund raising campaigns to provide aid to earthquake victims of Nepal, here on Tuesday, April 28.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP leader, Ravi Shankar Mijar said, “More than 4,300 people have lost their life and thousands are injured in the powerful earthquake which struck Nepal on April 25. A huge loss of lives and property has left everybody mum. Lot of relief and rehabilitation works have been initiated to provide help to Nepal. Soldiers are doing their best to provide aid and help to the earth quake victims. From the side of BJP Dakshina Kannada district unit, we have decided to collect aid financially by going door to door and shop to shop in Mangaluru and send to victims of Nepal”.

Nagaraj Shetty, Monappa Bhandary and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion.

The BJP leaders and volunteers of the party reached out to people, shops and houses and collected the money for the good cause.

VHP also organized a fund raising campaign today April 28 to help the earthquake victims of Nepal.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Shenava, a lawyer and VHP’s district working president, said, “Nepal is the only Hindu nation of the world. It is going through tough times due the powerful quake which struck the country on April 25. Northern India also has been affected by the quake. VHP is organizing a nationwide campaign to raise funds for the victims. VHP DK district unit also has decided to go door to door and shop to shop and collect the funds for the victims of the quake and wipe the tears of the suffering victims”.

M B Puranik, working President VHP Karnataka (South), Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell and others were present on occasion.
