Many injured in violent protest of JKLF against ‘townships for Hindu Kashmiri Pandits’ in Srinagar. Shutdown on Saturday called by Hurriyat Conference.
HENB | Sri Nagar | April 10, 2015:: Many people were injured in clashes between police and Yasin Malik’s JKLF supporters, who were protesting after Friday Namaj against the proposed “composite townships” for displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the valley.
Police in crisis resorted to lathicharge and used tear gas shells as soon as the protesters led by JKLF leader Yasin Malik reached near Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk in the afternoon with hundreds of his supporters. Later, a group of youth pelted stones at the police and paramilitary personnel, leading to clashes which lasted nearly one hour.
The pro-pakistani protesters raising the slogans ‘sang sang jiyenge sang sang marenge‘ (we will live and die together), ‘alahida colony manzoor nahi manzoor nahi’ (separate colonies are not acceptable), broke the cordon laid at Budshah Chowk and reached Lal Chowk which resulted in the scuffle with the police, eyewitnesses said. But, this slogans are raised now after the the J&K CM announced rehabilitation package for the displaced Hindus and Kashmiri Pandits under the pressure of BJP MLAs in the state assembly.
The Chief Minister of PDP-BJP led Govt in J&K, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has cleared in the state legislative Assembly that there were no plans of setting up separate township for the Kashmiri Pandits but steps will be taken for return of the minority community to the Valley.
Though the J&K Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed declared that there will be No ghettos, separate homeland for Kashmiri Pandits, the separatists in JKLF wants to deteriorate the situation of Jammu and Kashmir for making aclear division in BJP-PDP Govt in J&K.
Due to making serious violence and raising subversive slogans, J&K Police detained the chairman of JKLF, Yasin Malik and dozens of his supporters. Some policemen and protesters were an injured during the clashes turned violent.
Another protest rally was taken out by the supporters of Geelani from Iqra Masjid Saraibala at Amira kadal with full of communal and subversive slogans after the Friday prayers.
Interestingly, a group of Kashmiri Pandits, who continued to stay back during the mass exodus in 1990, today joined separatist JKLF-sponsored street protests here against the proposed exclusive township for migrant community.
These stranded people like educationists Pandit Vishin Jee, Pandit Moti Lal Bhat, social worker Kumar Jee Wanchoo, businessman Moti Lal Dhar and several women of the community joined JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik in the protest at Maisuma here after Friday prayers. Actually, these people have lost their Pandit-identity under pressure and have been made as the stooges of the separatists for their Dhimmi staying in Kashmir valley.
Besides Yasin Malik, prominent separatist leader of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Shah Geelani had called for a protest after Friday prayers and complete shut down on Saturday across the valley.
Heavy stone-pelting and Islamic slogans against India and Kashmiri Pandits during street protests were also reported from Baramulla district.
