Hindu community applauds revisions to SOL tests for accuracy

Rajan Zed 5The Hindu community called recent changes to Standards of Learning tests “encouraging.”

The changes to the test in question pertain to inaccuracies regarding Hinduism and India.

The changes were recommended by Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Rajan Zed, Hindu statesman and president of Universal Society of Hinduism, said in a statement it’s a step toward reducing misconceptions about Hinduism in the western part of the world.

Over the years, volunteers have spoken about Hinduism at Virginia Board of Education meetings, hoping to bring change.

Now, Zed is encouraging other education departments and state boards to make revisions to promote accuracy, offering himself or other Hindu scholars as resources for understanding the culture and religion.
