The Bhutanese community in Tukwila recently celebrated Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colors, with face painting and walk through the neighborhood.
More then 60 youths gathered at Cascade View Community Park, where they were also joined by Tukwila Police Officer Patrick Hisa, who received a red tika on his forehead.
Passersby asked the youths about their celebration, which announces the passing of winter and the arrival of spring in Nepal.
Young and old are covered with colors – red, green, yellow, blue, black and silver – and they sing and dance.
Colors are exchanged and colored water is sprayed on each other. And participants throw water balloons at each other, sometimes called lola.
The festival is celebrated by the Bhutanese community around United States.
