A Successful Eye Camp At Likoni Ferry By Hindu Council of Kenya

141114-01Coastweek — On 18th October 2014, Hindu Council of Kenya, Mombasa branch along with Mombasa Eye Hospital and Laser Centre organized a very successful eye camp at Kenya Ferry Island.

The total number of patients screened were 321 while 128 patients were given reading glasses and 188 medicines were dispensed.

Prescription glasses were given to 45 patients and 42 patients were referred to the hospital for further examination free of cost.

Total number of cataract and other surgeries were 30.

On 5th November 2014, the patients came to the hospital for the eye surgeries (cataract, glaucoma, pterigium, chalazion, squint etc).

All the eye surgeries were performed with the new technique called phacoemulsification whereby all the patients went home on the same day without any bandage.

This activity was kindly sponsored by Ms. Vasantiben Doshi from U.K under Hindu Council of Kenya, Mombasa banner.

Ms. Vasantiben Doshi personally saw the patients at the hospital after the operations and was pleased with the treatment given to the needy.

A big thank you to HCK trustee Mr. Kishore bhai Shah, HCK Chairman Mr. Ajay Pattni, HCK past chairlady Mrs. Kamlini Khataw and IPC HCK Mr. Rajesh Shukla for planning and observing the whole activity.

Overall, the complete outreach community programme was a great success.
