KOCHI: As part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), a series of programmes have been planned in the state for the next one year.
Conferences have been scheduled in 14 revenue districts in January and February next year.
VHP International secretary-general Champat Rai told media persons here that nearly 5,000 youths will donate blood to 30 government hospitals in the state on November 2.
A meeting of communal leaders will be held in Kochi on December 7. The celebrations will address environmental issues affecting water bodies and take up village-related issues. Before and after Sabarimala season, 1,000 VHP volunteers will take up cleaning of the premises.
Champat Rai said that VHP aims at eradicating untouchability and working for a homogeneous society. During the celebrations, stress will be given to creating an atmosphere of harmony among the Hindu community.
“Muslims and Christians are sons of the soil. The present generation should study history to know that they are part of the society. Such a vision will end the differences between castes,” he said.
Muslims and Christians, at the same time, have to feel that the soil is the mother of all. VHP calls for following the Hindu culture and the country’s traditions in their houses. Families should not be westernised, he said.
As part of ensuring literacy to all, VHP has started literacy programmes at 50,000 remote areas in the country. There are already 5,000 permanent service projects in educational and social sectors.
A health helpline of VHP will also be introduced in Kerala soon.
