Government threatens to ban Sri Rama Sena

Pramod_Muthalik_EPSThe State Government has threatened to ban Sri Rama Sena, the Hindutva outfit, if it continues its moral policing activities.

Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, Home Minister K.J. George said that Sri Rama Sena was still continuing its moral policing activities and in this backdrop, the Chief Minister had made a statement about banning the outfit. “If Sri Rama Sena does not stop playing moral police, there is no option left for the Government but to ban the outfit”, he said.

On the early release of prisoners with good conduct, he said that the government would approach the Supreme Court, on the lines of Tamil Nadu government. Noting that there was no question of curtailing powers of the Governor on this count, he said he would discuss the issue with the Governor Vajubhai Vala.

Condemning the statement of former minister and Hukkeri MLA on a separate statehood for northern Karnataka, he said that statements of the kind will be detrimental to the interests of Karnataka, adding that people “should not be carried away by such statements”.
