Violence claims 12 lives in Pakistan’s Karachi
ISLAMABAD, May 24 (Xinhua) — At least 12 people including three kids from minority Hindu community were killed and several others injured in separate incidents of violence in Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi on Saturday, local media reported.
Samaa TV said that police recovered bodies of three kids from the downtown area of Karachi, capital city of the country’s southern Sindh province.
The victims were identified as three among the six kids from minority Hindu community who went missing from the metropolis Friday.
No group has claimed responsibility for killing or kidnapping the kids yet.
In a separate incident, four bodies were found from two different areas including Quaidabad and Madina Colony of the city.
Police said that two among the recovered bodies were bearing eminent marks of torture.
All the four bodies were sent to hospital for autopsy.
Residents in Yaro Goth area of the city recovered the bodies from a parked Suzuki car.
The victims, aged between 25 to 30 years, have not been identified yet.
On Saturday morning, two people were killed and several others injured when some unknown gunmen opened fire in Rais Amrohi Colony area of the city.
The attackers fled the scene following the incident.
In another incident, one man was killed and two others were injured when unidentified people opened fire in New Karachi sector 5 area. The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
No group or person claimed responsibility for any of the killing incident yet.
Panic gripped the area where the violence took place, halting education and business activities.
Residents of the affected areas demanded police to deploy extra contingent to ensure security of their lives and property.
