Hindu’s Kavdi Yatra procession in Ahmedabad

Indian Hindu devotee Elumalai Dravid walks with a nine-foot (2.72 metre)-long brass rod pierced through his cheeks in the Kavdi Yatra procession in Ahmedabad on April 13, 2014. This is his fourth year of parcitipating in the yatra. The Kavdi Yatra procession is an annual event in the city, where Hindus of south Indian origin pierce parts of their body as acts of devotion.
