GIBV takes the Hindu Nationalist Modi campaign programs throughout continental USA

GIBV takes the NaMo campaign up a notch with “Vote for India” programs throughout continental USA

Global Indians for Bharat Vikas (GIBV), a group of NRIs spread throughout the world, drummed up support for Narendra Modi by organizing several “Vote for India ”/ “ Chai pe Charcha” programs in all major cities of USA in the last weekend of March 2014, with support of likeminded organizations. The enthusiastic Modi supporters were given a review of various activities taking place locally in support of BJP and were encouraged to reach out to more people in their circle of influence. It is to be noted that GIBV is spearheading the efforts of reference calling (calling one’s friends and relatives in India), specific constituency focused calling (calling swing constituencies), social media campaign in support of NaMo and to top it all – facilitating the visit of hundreds of NRIs to campaign on ground in India. The cities where such programs were conducted included Boston, New Jersey, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta,  Orlando,  Houston, Dallas,  Indianapolis,  Chicago, and San Francisco. These awareness raising programs will go on till the last day of election. GIBV, Tokyo, Japan held a Chai Pe Charcha on April 5.

In all these meetings, speaker after speaker emphasized the importance of voting in favor of BJP so that it can get an absolute majority in these elections. Since fractured mandate benefits only Congress (and its cronies / allies), the supporters were exhorted to put in some extra hard work over next few weeks to ensure a BJP victory. State specific teams are setup to focus the campaigning efforts on ground where the team in USA would act as an extension of the campaign team in India in a particular constituency.

Speaking at one such meeting in New Jersey, Gaurang Vaishnav, the convener of GIBV said: “India has potential to become a world power, but in a different sense. India does not need to be a world power to bully other nations and be the super cop. India could be world power that will teach the war weary world how to coexist in harmony. India’s tremendous potential and energy of the youth can be harnessed by Modiji to transform the country inside out. Modiji’s creed, Development of all with support of all, a Government has only one religious book, The Constitution indicates where he could take the country. Therefore, it is important that Indian voters move away from narrow considerations of caste and creed, allure of freebies and sham bogey of “secularism in danger”, vote and vote decisively for BJP, the party that Narendra Modi is leading in this watershed election.”

Gitesh Desai, a national coordinator of GIBV said in Houston:  “In the past, Indian diaspora stood with India against Indira Gandhi’s emergency rule and after the economic sanctions imposed by the western powers subsequent to the Pokharan nuclear bomb tests. This is a third opportunity in our life time to stand with India to help bring necessary change in its national government that could make India strong, stable, united, prosperous and developed. I am confident that GIBV’s reference calling efforts in support of tested and trusted leadership of Shri Narendrabhai Modi will become one of the catalysts of change.”

3NaMo Chai Party in Washington DC was a big hit.

5Even the threat of Tornado could not deter NaMo supporters from gathering in Orlando, Florida

6 Indianapolis getting the NaMo fever – core team in their “I Support Modi” t – shirts.

Dr. Mahesh Mehta, Chairman of GIBV said to the Boston Chai Pe Charcha audience: “There comes few opportunities in life to support the whole nation. This election is one such very rare opportunity to serve our motherland by getting involved to create awareness among the voters; hence all NRIs worldwide should get involved.”

Activist NRIs in USA established Global Indians for Bharat Vikas (GIBV, www.gibv.org) last July with the idea of helping long term development of India. Its immediate task is Mission-2014, that is to make sure that Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister of India after the coming election so that all of India can develop on all fronts. This young organization has more than 1200 registered volunteers in USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Middle Eastern countries, Hong Kong, France, Ukraine, Tunisia, Australia, New Zealand, etc.  GIBV’s volunteers are engaged in making calls to their contacts in India- family members, friends and professionals asking them to vote for BJP, Vote for Narendra Modi, vote for India. This has cascading effect as their counterparts in India, then call their own contacts and they call theirs, etc.

Hundreds of NRIs will be going to India for active campaigning for Narendra Modi. Their work is facilitated by GIBV’s branch in Ahmadabad, Gujarat. GIBV-India has developed contacts all across the country so the people going from abroad are well received and guided properly for effective campaigning. In one such event which took place in Houston, the volunteers were given a warrior like sendoff in a traditional Hindu way, with tilak and aarti.

7Volunteers of GIBV have also conducted several programs in last 4 months to create awareness among NRIs that they too could become instrumental in bringing Narendra Modi to power. There have been several Chai Pe Charcha programs, Walk For Unity events, NaMo Tea Stalls, NaMo Tea Parties, Run for Unity events and other public functions. All volunteers are a firm believer in “Together We Can, and Together We Will” and working diligently to ensure 272+ seats for BJP.
