It is highly regrettable that Catholic Christian Religious Leaders in the Northern Province takes over the leadership of the entire Tamil Community and usually try to articulate their stance as the views of the Tamil Community living in the Province.

The 2012 population census of Sri Lanka depicts that the total population of the Northern Province as 987, 692 and out of which 93.29% of the population were Tamils. In the meantime the population of Sri Lanka Moors stood at 32,364 (3,06%), Sinhalese 32, 331 (3.05%) Indian Tamil 6,049 (0.57%) and others 328 (0.03%).
The same population census shows Hindus in the province as 789.362 (74.56%), Christians both RC, Non RC and other Christian groups200,405 (19.27%) , Muslims 34,040 (3.22%) , Buddhists 30, 040 (2.87%) and others 988 (0.09%).
The latest population – Census of 2012, clearly depicts that the Christians which includes RC , Non RC and other Christian Groups who have their own independent leaderships, were simply 19.27 % percentage of the total population, but they used to monopolize the entire Tamil Community in the Province by manipulating the leadership of the Tamils in the Province with the connivance of the Christian West.
The Catholic Christian prelates in the North are –Diocese of Jaffna Bishop Thomas Savundaranayagam and the Diocese of Mannar Bishop Rayappu Joseph.
Those two Bishops, who simply represents less than 19% of the total populations of the Tamils in the Northern Province takes over the leaderships of the entire Tamils and use to speak on behalf of the community.
It was indeed unfortunate that the Tamil Community political and religious leaders simply acquiesce andsurrender their leadership to these two Catholic Bishops, who used to manipulate the leadership of even other religious communities.
It was further claimed that by claiming to be the leaders of the entire Tamil Community in the Northern Province they were secretly involved in religious conversions of Hindus and Muslims – involved in Proselytism of the Tamils.
Allowing the Roman Catholic Bishops as the leaders of the Tamils is a design of the West to focus on the Tamils as Christians and assist the Catholic prelates in proselyting of the Hindus and Muslims in years to come.
It is a pity that Sri Lankan Hindu Tamil Leaders and Tamil speaking Muslim leaders had accepted the leadership of the Roman Catholic prelates and allowed them to continue with their evil design of proselyting the Hindu Tamils as well as the Tamil speaking Muslims.
Whoever who visits the Northern Province use to meet either one of the two Catholic Bishops or else both of them and listen to them and consider whatever they say as the views of the majority Tamils of the North.
It was not in record of any international visitor to the north has ever visited either a religious leader of the Hindus or Muslims in the Province.
So far there was no word of resentment from the Tamil National Alliance Leaders including that from Mr.R.Sampanthan. Except for Mr. Selvam Adaikkalanathan, majority of Members of Parliament representing the Tamils are Hindus, but they continues to accept the over lordship of the two Roman Catholic Christian Bishops.
This stance of the TNA leadership was intriguing. In fact it should be clearly told that the Catholic Christian Clergies were the very people responsible for the end of Tamil Sovereignty in the year 1621 and these are the very people who stand in the way preventing reconciliation between the Tamils and the Sinhalese also in a big way even with the Tamil speaking brethren – Muslims.
