Mangalore: VHP alleges police atrocity Hindu youths, seeks action

Mangalore, Jan 28: The local unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Monday January 27 opposed police action against Hindu youths and in connection with the recent assault on a person at Ullal’s KC Road.

Muneer was assaulted by a group of miscreants at KC Road on on January 21. A case in this regard was registered at Ullal Police station.

The VHP members said that police took a number of Hindu youth for questioning in this connection and illegally kept them in lock up for one or two days before releasing them.

“They also took into custody Pradeep Pumpwell, Bajrang Dal Goraksha convener on January 24, at 2 am from his residence and released him the next day when the VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders were preparing to protest in front of ACP’s office at 5 pm,” VHP stated in a media release.

“ACP-led police team entered Bajrang Dal activist Manoj Kumar’s residence at about 2 am on January 24, dragged him and taken him to an unknown location.  Police constables Sunil and Isaac drank liquor in the night and under its influence hit Manoj Kumar on his hands, legs and private parts as they liked. They also subjected him to electric shock,” VHP alleged.

“District Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishat strongly condemn the gruesome act on innocent Hindu youth.  An FIR should be registered against the policemen who indulged in the acts and they should immediately be suspended,” the release stated.

The VHP threatened to hold a protest in front of the office of deputy commissioner on February 3 at 3 pm if no action is taken against the policemen.
