‘As my husband is very sick, I, along with three of our unmarried young daughters, am feeling insecure,’ she said. She feared another attack anytime. She sought security, especially for the daughters
Miscreants attacked the house of a bank employee in Lalmonirhat on Monday causing damage worth Tk50,000. The gang entered the house located in the Northbengal area in the town around 11pm breaking two fences, walls and two other structures. The attack was alleged to be centred on a land dispute.
The affected family members claimed they did not dare protest as the miscreants had sharp weapons.
They lodged a complaint yesterday accusing three named and eight unnamed persons with Lalmonirhat sadar thana.
The house belonged to Manindra Nath Barmon, 55, an employee of Lalmonirhat branch of the Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank who has been suffering from cancer for last one year.
Manindra’s wife Maya Rani alleged they had donated one decimal land for a link road in the area but the local goons demanded two more decimals.
As Manindra denied such claims, the gang of miscreants led the attack and threatened them not to inform police or the media.
“As my husband is very sick, I, along with three of our unmarried young daughters, am feeling insecure,” she said. She feared another attack anytime. She sought security, especially for the daughters.
Lalmonirhat Sadar thana Officer-in-Charge Jamir Uddin said police would take necessary actions after investigation.
Police went to the spot immediately but the miscreants fled, the OC said adding that proper measures had already been taken to ensure security for the affected Hindu family
