Hindu dance program in River Vale

Sabrina D. MisirHiralall lectured and performed in a Hindu dance program for residents at the Jewish Home Assisted Living in River Vale on Oct. 11 as part of an adult education program that is organized by Montclair State University for seniors at the facility. MisirHiralall, a doctoral candidate in pedagogy and philosophy, spoke about the difference between liturgical dance and Hindu dance. She explained that Hindu dance has a long history rooted in scriptures of Hinduism and follows a very rigid curriculum. While she has Indian ancestors and comes from a family of priests, she was born and raised in New Jersey.
