Mangalore (Karnataka) : 30 fanatics attacked V. T. Prasad, a reporter of local daily newspaper called ‘Karavali Ale’ making false allegations against him of molesting a Muslim woman. Prasad has been seriously injured in the attack and has been admitted to a private hospital. Abdul Jabbar and Abubekar Siddiqui, two fanatic have been arrested in this connection.
Delegation of journalists met Superintendent of Police of South Canara and made a demand that reporters writing on religious matters should be provided protection. The delegation has stated in a representation submitted to the police that members of ‘Popular Front of India’, a terrorist organisation have been active in land, wood and construction fields as mafia. Shri. Prasad had published news against them; therefore, these mafias must be involved in attacking Prasad.
