Five pilgrims were killed while 40 others injured including women and children as a truck overturns near Thana Chapper in Yamuna Nagar District last night.
The truck in which these pilgrims are going to Kapalmochan Mela all belongs to Bucho Mandi of District Bhatinda. The truck while avoiding collision with a car overturned on the National Highway No 73. The rescue operation started immediately and the injured were shifted to the nearby hospitals at Jagadhri, Yamuna Nagar, Mullana and Gadholi.
The deceased were identified as Bagga, Gurdeep Singh, Gurdass, Kulwant and Chand Singh.
This information was given by Rajinder, SHO Thana Chapper. He further said that the driver of the truck was not found drunk.
