2 detained over Nasirnagar attack on Hindus

 
 Two persons have been detained in connection with the attacks on Hindu people that took place on October 30 in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.

The detainees are: Monoranjan Devnath, 40, secretary of Haripur union parishad (UP) and Uttam Kumar Das, 25, a close associate of UP’s chairman Dewan Atiqur Rahman Akhi, the prime suspect in the attack.

They were detained from Haripur area yesterday evening, local correspondent reports quoting Md Abu Jafar, officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar Police Station.

On October 30, unruly mobs and zealots vandalised many Hindu houses and temples in five villages of the upazila over a Facebook post.
