Hindu organizations and BJP  plan Belagavi Bandh in protest to ‘biased report on Ganpati immersion riot and transfer of CPI Gokak’, ‘illegal grave in Khadak Galli’ and ‘closer of Go-Seva Ayog in Karnataka’.

Hindu Protests are on at Belagavi.

HENB | Belagavi | Oct 6, 2015::The Riot culminated by Islamic stone pelting on Ganpati immersion at Khadak Galli is continuing to burn even after 10 days. Opposing the suspension of market CPI Ramesh Gokak citing dereliction in duty in handling of the situation on the day of riot, various Hindu organizations planned to call ‘Belagavi Bandh’ to demand for the revoking of the suspended CPI. A two-day deadline is likely to be given to the district administration.

BJP MP Suresh Angadi and ex-MLA Abhay Patil met DC N Jayaram and city police commissioner S Ravi on Thursday and passed the message of the Hindu organizations. CPI Ramesh Gokak had been suspended by police commissioner S Ravi on Tuesday based on fact-finding report. The facts remain that CPI Ramesh Gokak initiated to handle the Muslim rioters strictly and wanted to remove a illegal Chabutar (grave) from Khadak Galli area.

Illegal Grave yard in Khadak galli, new point of Islamic communalism.

Leaders demanded the arrest of the true culprits involved in the riot after attacking the Ganpati immersion procession in Khadak galli area and recommending the incident to judicial inquiry. MP Suresh Angadi said it was wrong to suspend Gokak, who has good track record of service. There is feeling among the public that the officer has been politically targeted because action is initiated against him after Congress leader CM Ibrahim visited the city recently. “I have already talked to DGP Om Prakash in this regard’ he said.

The Hindu grievances in Belagavi have taken a stronger shape as the Karnataka Cabinet Okays Abolition of Goseva Ayog.

The Congress run State Govt in Karnataka on Wednesday decided to abolish the Karnataka Goseva Ayog (Cow Conservation Commission) constituted by the previous BJP government.

Law Minister T B Jayachandra told reporters that the decision was taken following “the High Court’s adverse observation against the Ayog.”

The Cabinet has decided that after doing away with the Ayog, all its powers and authorities will be amalgamated with the Animal Welfare Board, he said.

Karnataka Goseva Ayog

The Ayog was constituted by the D V Sadananda Gowda government to take care of cattle and protect and promote various breeds, after it failed to get the presidential assent for its Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill, 2010. Strongly defending the government’s decision to abolish the Ayog, the minister said, “The existing Animal Welfare Board can fulfill all the responsibilities that was assigned to the Ayog.”

The Congress government in Karnataka has decided to wind up Goseva Ayoga (commission in the service of cow) and reiterated its support to beef-eating. This came just a day after party general secretary Digvijaya Singh, ironically Karnataka in-charge, said that a nationwide ban on beef-eating could be considered.

The Siddaramaiah government has already withdrawn bill, passed by both Houses of the state legislature during the BJP rule in 2010 and 2011, that banned all cow, cattle and buffalo slaughter. This bill was pending before the then President Prathibha Patil, and was formally withdrawn by the Karnataka government in the state legislature in December 2014.

This also generated a high Hindu repercussion in Karnataka and Belagavi too.

Hindus are now united to Belagavi Bandh in protest to both ‘biased investigation report against CPI Gokak and his suspension’ and the perpetrated ‘closer of Go-seva Ayog’.
