(Sub:No Compromise on OHM-karam & Surya Namaskara yoga day event)
It is a great step taken by the Prime Minister of India to have made Yoga an International Event, with many countries endorsing and co-sponsoring this event, it is a worry factor that few fundamentalist groups are trying to paint a religious card to this event. What is more worrying is the compromise on Ohm-kara, & Surya Namaskara, it is a fact that Hinduism (Sanatana Dharma) by itself a broad minded and accommodative way of life, it is becoming a trend now by extremist groups to play with our politeness. We can’t keep sacrificing our tradition every time, just because we want harmony, certainly not when the other person keeps bullying. Yoga is a Hindu tradition, which is incomplete without Ohm-kara or Surya Namaskara, There is nothing communal or anti-islam or anti any religion in it. Many Christian education institutions during British raj had acquired land from the rulers, which runs even today with many subsidies and benefits , many Hindu students study their and none of them have or had any complaints to the prayers they conduct, many mosques use speakers and their prayers cross through Hindu households irrespective of day or time, no hindu has any complaints to this, if Ohm-kara or Surya Namskara is communal then the above examples are also communal. We would like to condemn any compromise on our traditions and value system, we would also not allow Minority atrocities on the majority people. When many Islamic countries having sharia laws can accept yoga then what is the need for people of this country to talk Anti islam or any. We would request both the state and central government to take actions on these extremist groups and educate people of this country that any compromises would only lead to many more Indian versions of ISIS. So , we would like to request you to kindly make yoga compulsory in schools, colleges , offices and govt institutions.
