Hindu religious ceremony held at Sri Gnanavairavar temple inside Palay HSZ

Hindu devotees in Jaffna, for the first time in 27 years were able to offer Pooja (religious service) at the Sri Gnanavairavar temple in Vasavilan South on Friday (05th June 2015). The Pooja was held amidst a large gathering of devotees at the temple located inside the Palaly High Security Zone.

Acting on the directives of Commander Security Force Jaffna Major General Nandana Udawatta, troops of the 16 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment cleared the surrounding and the access road to the temple while personnel of 4 Corps of Engineer Services put up temporary huts and seating arrangements for the visiting devotees. Troops also facilitated water, medical and sanitary facilities for them.
