VISAKHAPATNAM: The Convocation of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (Sanskrit University) of Government of India was conducted here Saturday. On the occasion, Andhra University registrar V Uma Maheswara Rao said, “Sanskrit is a Mother language and efforts have to be taken to promote it worldwide. The language reflects the great cultural values and ethics of India.” Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha Hare Krishna Satapathy presented honorary degree (Mahamahopadhyaya) to Malladi Chandrasekhara Sastry, Sadgur Vemakoti Krishnayaji, Dorbala Prabhakara Sarma and Honorary D.Litt (Vachaspathi) to Goruganthu Akkubhotlu Sarma, Rajalakshmi Srinivasan, RVSS Avadhanulu and Sadananda Agarwal.

He also presented ‘Agama Dyuman’ awards to Vishnubhattacharyulu, Nalluru Vikhanasa Bhattacharyulu, Yanamandra Venugopala Sastry and Velapalli Chandrasekhar Sarma.

Rompicharla Srinivasacharyulu, priest of Siva-Vishnu Temple, Livermore, California, the USA, was felicitated by Hare Krishna Satapathy and Umamaheswara Rao on the occasion.
