Mangaluru, Feb 28: In a scathing attack, Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha state chief secretary Rajesh Pavitran on Saturday February 28 demanded a ban on Popular Front of India (PFI) and said a rally and a hunger strike would be held in Bengaluru on March 8 in this regard.
Addressing a press meet here, Pavitran termed PFI and SDPI as ‘terror’ organizations and said, “Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha will be holding a protest rally from Maurya Circle to Freedom Park in Bengaluru on March 8, demanding a state-wide ban on PFI in the wake of the recent communal clashes at Shivamogga. We will so demand Rs 25 lac as compensation to the family of the person who was killed in the violence.”
The rally will culminate with a 24-hour hunger strike at Freedom Park, he added.
Pavitran also demanded a ban on SDPI and other like-minded organizations.
He further alleged, “Before the last Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had said that if Narendra Modi became the PM, the country would burn in communal violence. As this as has not come true, the Congress is trying to spark communal tension by supporting fundamentalist organizations that created trouble in Shivamogga, Gangolli, Puttur and Mangaluru. Because of the Congress party’s support to such organizations, incidents of communal violence are taking place in various parts of the state.”
Commenting on Veerabhadra Chennamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Math over his statement on demolition of Babri Masjid, he said “Akhila Bharath Hindu Mahasabha condems the statement of Swamiji. If the swamiji is raising his voice for Muslims, we as majority Hindus are not ready to accept him as Swamiji.”
The Hindu Mahasabha also condemned the act of setting fire to Hindu Samajostava banners in some areas.
State vice-president Lohith Suvarna, Manjunath Hosabettu, district president Shravan Kumar and others were present on the occassion.
