101-ft tall statue of Lord Vishwakarma

Lord-Vishwakarma-WallpaperThe Vishwakarma Mahasabha would install a 101 ft-tall statue of Lord Vishwakarma in Channapatna on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, M. Prabhakar Acharya, president of Vishwakarma Abhivridhi Nigama, said the monolith statue would be 24-ft wide and 71-ft long on a 30-ft peetha.

The State government had given permission to take a monolith rock from Koira Rocks at Devanahalli taluk. The work to remove the monolith rock would be launched at Devanahalli at 11 a.m. on February 22. Priests from Barkur in Udupi district would conduct the rituals on the occasion.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, president of Karnataka Pradesh Committee G. Parameshwara and All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijaya Singh would be present on the occasion. Members of the Vishwakarma community from all districts would be participating in the ceremony to be held at Devanahalli.

An amount of Rs. 30 crore would be spent on sculpting and installing the statue on four acres at Channapatna. The sculpting was expected to take two to three years. Sadashiva Acharya, Harish Acharya, Prakash Acharya, Vasanth Acharya, leaders of the Vishwakarma community, were present.
