Chennithala Calls for Spiritual Awakening

PATHANAMTHITTA:Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has called for spiritual awakening among the young generation to save them from the evils of drugs and other unethical practices.

Inaugurating the valedictory function of the 103rd Ayroor-Cherukolpuzha Hindu Convention at the Sree Vidyadhiraja Nagar at Ayroor near Kozhencherry on Sunday, Ramesh Chennithala said that the youth of the State were facing the threat of drugs and tobacco products. The Minister said a massive campaign with the cooperation of members of the society was needed to save youth from such evils.

 

“An awareness campaign based on spiritual, moral and ethical principles is vital for bringing back the youth to the right path,” said Chennithala, while lauding the unparallel philosophy and culture of Hinduism that is based on ‘Sanatana Dharma. The religious tolerance of the Hinduism, accommodating people of all faith, is unique in the world,” he said. Delivering the presidential address, Swami Garudadwojananda Theertha of the Vazhoor Theerthapada Ashramam said the philosophy and the great teachings of Hinduism were catching up across the world.

“People with vested interests have launched a sinister campaign against the introduction of Sanskrit as a compulsory subject in the country,” he said.

Former Union Minister O Rajagopal delivered the key-note address, while Sree Mookambika Temple Thantri Manjunatha Adika delivered the benedictory address.P N Suresh offered felicitation. Hindumatha Mahamandalam vice-president P S Nair welcomed the gathering and T N Rajasekharan Pillai proposed a vote of thanks.
