• Barack Obama was the first US President to have been the Chief Guest at the Indian Republic Day Parade on 26th January;
• His 3-day visit to India marked many “firsts” including significant break-through in long-pending civil-nuclear deal. New York Times described it a success;
• Greece got a new government;
• Saudi Arabia’s King no more, his son takes over;
• Historic US-Cuba talks take off;
• The logjam over Constitution making continued in Nepal;
• ISIS volunteers in India crossed 1000;
• Australian women are joining ISIS;
• January 24 observed as the Girl Child day;
• A woman Bishop consecrated for the first time in Britain;
• Boko Haram disturbing regional peace; The Jaipur Literary Festival (January22-26) was a grand success;
• The 66th Republic Day in India was dedicated to “Nari Shakti” and for the first time a lady officer commanded the parade;
• An army Col. M N Rai, honoured for bravery – Yudh Seva Medal on 26th Jan martyred on 27th January;
• The best known cartoonist, of “You Said It” and “Common Man”, R K Laxman, bade good bye on January 26, 2015. Our most respectful “pronams” to him.
