Man burglarizes Hindu temple; police ask for help

1418258768-162848376SOUTH JORDAN — Police are asking for help to identify the man who stole a laptop and iPad from the Sri Ganesha Hindu Temple in South Jordan.

The temple is currently undergoing an expansion project and the man entered through a door that was left unlocked overnight, according to master officer Samuel Winkler of the South Jordan Police Department. The theft was reported to police Dec. 1 and surveillance images were posted on the South Jordan Police Department’s Facebook page Tuesday.

“Any loss of property to a religious organization can be a big impact not only to the church, but to the members who have to come up with money to replace those items,” Winkler said. “We would really love to get that property back.”

He said the man walked into the temple, saw the computer equipment and then walked out with an iPad, laptop and accompanying cables. Anyone with information about the identity of the man can contact the South Jordan Police Department at 801-840-4000.
