Sena leader shot dead at Punawale

thumbPUNE: Rajesh alias Raju Darshile (43), the Punawale unit chief of Shiv Sena, was shot dead by unidentified persons outside his construction site office in Punawale-Jambhe on Saturday night.

Darshile was rushed to a private hospital in Chinchwad, where he was declared dead on arrival. The Hinjewadi police suspect a land dispute to be the reason for his murder.

Police said the shooting took place around 8.30 pm. Darshile was standing outside his office when unidentified gunmen fired three rounds. “One of the three bullets hit Darshile’s head,” a police officer said.

“We are probing the reason behind his murder,” the officer added.

Heavy police bandobast have been deployed at Punawale and outside the private hospital in Chinchwad.
