Ekal Vidyalaya: Harvard University & United Nations’ education initiative for tribal India

Achieving universal primary education is a UN Millennium Development goal, this video shows how is India coping up with this goal. As NGO’s are striving to provide a future to the underprivileged Ekal Vidyalaya joins hand by setting up schools across tribal villages in India. They provide primary education for over 1.5 million kids.

Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) India Impact is an initiative which is run by the delegates. It showcases stories of organizations across the countries that are working constantly there by spreading the noble cause for the kids. Here’s the story of one such organization in Rajasthan, India. This village is remote even for the government, but through this initiative the NGO is trying to impart value education and benefiting the underprivileged kids.

As a delegate at the Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN) programme being conducted by Harvard University at Hyderabad from August 13, 2014, Shyam has nominated ‘Ekal Vidyalaya’, one of the leading NGOs in India that runs schools in tribal villages across the country.

Ekal runs over 54,000 schools providing basic primary education to over 1.5 million children. Watch Shyam as he travels to Rajasthan and captures the video of this organization in Rajasthan, India.
