Teen Hindu girl’s death: Students calls for college Bandh in Udupi district

udupi_district_mapKundapur: The district unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Student Federation of India (SFI) and Campus front of India (CFI) has called for college Bandh in Udupi district on June 14, demanding justice in the death case of 17 year-old girl Ratna Kottari, whose body was found in the forest area at Alandoor near Shiroor, on July 12.

The students boycotted classes and held a protest demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. They took a huge procession and submitted a memorandum to state Home Minister K J George through Tehsildar Gayatri Nayak.

Demanding investigation from higher officials like CID, the students said that the government should ensure safety for women and girls.The incidents of atrocities against women were increasing in the Coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. This had created an atmosphere of fear among college-going students, the students said.
