Plan for Funerals According to Hindu Tradition in Reunion

REUNION ISLAND, April, 16 2014 (Zinfos): The Reunion Tamil Federation, the Reunion Vaikoundam Association and the insurance company, Assurances Australes, have teamed up to offer the population of Reunion the possibility of organizing a funeral according to Hindu rites. It is a first for the island. This funeral agreement is a turnkey product to avoid financial and administrative burdens on families. The objective is avoid administrative and financial hassles for bereaved families. According to Hindu tradition, the death ritual takes place in four steps and requires the use of a pujari (priest) who organizes the ceremony. The Hindu ritual surrounding death is very special. There is a vigil, cremation or burial, the Karoumadi ceremony (16th day after death) and Devsam ceremony (one year and one day after death.) “There has been a lot of trouble for families to organize the proper sequence of ceremonies.
