1370953864_3On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad will organise a bike rally in the city on Tuesday which is expected to be attended by close to 10 lakh people. Representatives of VHP said about 5 lakh people had attended last year’s rally.

The procession from Gowliguda Chaman in the old city to the Hanuman temple at Tadbund in Secunderabad will start at 10 am and conclude with a public meeting at Imperial Gardens in Secunderabad.

In some parts like Nandyal and Proddatur, permission for rallies had initially been given but cancelled later by the police citing the election code. “We request the DGP and the governor not to stop the rallies.

“Nowhere is it mentioned that religious rallies cannot be held.

“Anyhow, we are determined to organise the rallies. However, we are trying to speak with the DGP on the matter,” VHP state president Moosapeta Rama Raju said, adding that the rallies could be stopped if political speeches were made during the event.
