Kolhapur : Hindus protest to cancel renaming of Shankaracharya Hill as ‘Takht-e-Suleman’

Kolhapur : An ancient religious place known as Sri Shankaracharya Hill near ‘Dal Lake’ in Srinagar, revered by all Hindus, was re-named by Archaeological Survey Department to ‘Takhta-E-Suleman’ in illegal manner. Kashmir State Government and Archaeology Department should render apology to all Hindus in this connection and name changed on the website should also be changed back to original name’, was the demand made during demonstrations held on 6th April at 12.00 noon at Shivaji Chowk under Rashteeya Hindu Andolan. About 40 devout Hindus took part in the demonstrations.

Shri. Dilip Bhivate said, “Giving names of Mughal who oppressed Hindus is an insult of Hindus at religious and cultural level. Why names of Mughals are given even after independence of this country ?”
Shri. Sanjay Kulkarni said, “It is good thing that under auspices of HJS, all Sects and organizations are coming together to stage demonstrations against foreign aggression.”
Shri. Sambhaji Salunkhe said, “Aurangzeb killed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj; still why Aurangzeb’s name is given to a city ? Names of Mughals should be changed to names like Arjun, Sambhaji etc.”
