Mumbai : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been trying to stop abuse of national flags for many years. On national festivals like 15th August and 26th January, small size paper and plastic flags are found strewn all over roads including gutters. HJS has been working to prevent such insult of national flag for many years. HJS has also filed PIL in this regard as the Government has been indifferent towards the issue. During last hearing of the case, High Court had asked additional Home Secretary to be present in the Court. Although the Court has taken the issue seriously, when the case came up for hearing on 3rd April, Government pleader asked the Court for time. The Bench comprising of Justice Abhay Oak and Justice Saeed were furious and asked the Government’s advocate whether the matter of insult of national flag was taken seriously by the Government. One week’s time has been given to the Government for submitting information. Advocate Anand Patil argued the case on behalf of HJS.
