Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh logoBharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), the labour wing of RSS, Bharatiya Kissan Sangh, Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram and other Sangh Parivar organisations presented their annual reports on their activities and future plans on the second day of the three-day RSS Akhila Bharat Pratinidhi Sabha here on Saturday.

However, the political deliberations and the scheduled media interaction with BJP National President Rajnath Singh was cancelled as he could not attend the meet due to hectic election-related meetings in New Delhi.

The RSS conclave deliberated on the need to expand BMS’ reach to millions of workers in the unorganised sector, with special emphasis on construction workers, anganwadi workers and workers in garment sector.

Speaking to Express, an RSS functionary said that labour unions are on the decline as there are no labour unions in MNCs that are increasingly setting shop in the country.

“It is the same story in the huge IT sector too. Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh will intensify its activities to organise the labourers in unorganised sector to improve their working conditions,” the RSS functionary said.

The welfare programmes being organised by Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram have received appreciation and it is in for significant expansion especially in north-east part of the country, he said.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad activities were also deliberated at length.

The RSS programme, ‘Sarhad Ko Pranam’, which organises visit of students and youth from various states to India’s borders with Pakistan, China and Bangladesh, received much appreciation as it presents a unique opportunity for the youth to understand the hostile conditions under which our armed forces are operating to defend the motherland, he said.

“We wish to expand such programmes that will inculcate a sense of patriotism among the youth of the country,” the RSS functionary added.
