Hindu Council of Kenya Hosts Kite Festival for Kisumu Kids

The Kite Festival held at the Jalaram Academy School Kisumu on January 12 was a huge success. More than 800 people attended the event hosted by the Hindu Council of Kenya and organised by the head of women’s wing, Sujata Derodra.

Beautiful colours and printed kites were brought in from India and sold on the day. Concurrently there was a master chef competition for the kids. They had to prepare two sweet dishes and two savory from a bundle of fruits, vegetables, breads and other creams. They prepared the four dishes without gas and within 40 minutes, they were done. The emcee, Mrs Vaishali Kamal Shah, was greatly supportive. Assisting the children where Charu Dhokia and Ashwinder Sokhi, winner of East FM’s Super Chef 3 competition. The winners of the master chef contest were Dharam Patel, Dhanit Sokhi, Shivam Patel and Sanyae Sokhi. There was also a blood grouping drive for the family directory of the Hindu Community of Kisumu and more than 200 people participated.
